FEE HIKE : Fatal disease of education - Written By -Anjali Rajput - Lets Care Society
"Everyone has a right to get higher education"
What if you have to purchase this right ?
Fee-Hike

In the era we are living in is known for modernisation and its incompatible technology. Hardly any country is left in all over the world which couldn't touch even the feet of it. All could have been possible because of the young minds of our generation. If these inovative minds are restrained from imbibing and practising the knowledge they deserve, would there still be a more progressive era awaiting for us to discover? Or wouldn't it be partial?
For making education available for all, government has passed many laws and keeps updating them with time and requirements. Those students who are unable to meet the costs of higher education, govt benefits them with reservation, subsidies, and scholarships.
In india,  the classes of students can be broadly categorised in two, reserved and general. The former category of students
has an advantage in terms of finances and can avail a concerned scholarship to cover the costs. However, students who come under general category are prone to suffer more if any unfavourable change is made in the laws affiliated to educational costs.

FEE HIKE : Fatal disease of education
Fee hikes in education, specially in those public institutions where poor and underprivileged students are provided profound knowledge either free or at the very low cost, becomes problematic for students. Students coming from a rich family are barely effected by this change but students of middle-class family have to face the brunt of this increase.
College is an educational period where one can get unfathomable amount of knowledge, but in the recent years such institutions have been disturbed by the hikes in fees. Even the most coveted-institutions in the country, the IITs and NITs, have not been spared from this disease.
The recent example of this is the JNU (Jawahar Lal Nehru University) protest
Authority has decided to double the fee, that was broadly opposed.
JNU students living in hostels from the current Rs 27,600-32,000 annually up to Rs 55,000-61,000. The new fee includes a mufti-fold hike in room rent — from Rs 10/20 per month to Rs 300/600 per month.Nov 14, 2019 (https://theprint.in › education)

Exorbitant fees make education burdensome for the students to cover the cost of it. Consequently, some have to drop the idea of continuing further, whereas families ( whose annual income can hardly cover the increase in fees) have to work more hard to get their ward educated.
Some Survey state that hikes in fee favours the increase in the quality of education, but all will be naught if students can not afford this education. There should be provisions of relaxation for the meritorious students who cannot afford the fees, so that they can get higher education without constant wrinkles on their face.
