Happiness
Happiness

We all use numerous statements about happiness everyday- “I’m so happy for her" “ She  looked happy" “Happy birthday". We have also written essays on topics like ‘Happy days' ’Happiness' so on and so forth but, when we think about what really makes us happy, we're stuck in a dilemma. I myself did not understand what qualified as true happiness to me for a long time when I sat down to write about this topic. Happiness is just the state of being happy and the word happy means feeling or showing pleasure or contentment. Very often people misinterpret the word happiness to a scenario where a person is looking at a beautiful view from a hill or a beach and is sipping from a glass of chardonnay and enjoying the fruits that they have gained through time, but I believe that is not accurate. True happiness would mean your complete hardwork and dedication put into what you do which will eventually give you the fruits that you deserve. “The most important thing is to enjoy your life-to be happy. It’s all that matter" ~ Audrey Hepburn

How do we know what qualifies as true happiness?

Look at a person toiling all day and getting back home to people that they love and eating palatable food that they worked hard for. It’s not easy to work all day but all of us see daily examples of the people around us do this. How do they manage? Well the simple answer would be that they are happy doing it because otherwise, they simply wouldn’t. They are happy when they work because it helps them provide for their loved ones. It helps them feed and nurture their family and fulfil their responsibilities which in turn makes them stronger and confident about themselves. I’m not saying that selflessness makes you happy, no because, eventually you are doing what you love and what you want and helping people is just a part of that design.

Stop looking for that glass of chardonnay or that perfect view. The little things and the larger things that you have now are filled with happiness and exultation. You just need to add a little genuine dedication and feel the happiness that exists instead of looking for a better kind of it.

Happiness is a habit- cultivate it ~ Elbert Hubbard
