Almost all educational institutions were closed couple of weeks ago before the national lockdown. From then, post the summer holidays too, none of the classrooms are re-filled. After the designated month of summer vacation, schools decided to proceed with online mode of education where the teachers would send them video/audio lectures and notes as digital documents, while the students would be submitting the assigned work to them via digital modes of submission. This was not all the change heard or visible in the ‘education sector’, many private institutions have hiked their fee amid the crisis, for which opposition has been seen in many parts of the country like West Bengal, Karnataka, Delhi, Assam, Maharashtra etc.Governments of all these states have mandated in one or the other way to the private schools of their respective region to take back their decisions of hike and also to not make any increase in charges during the ongoing scenario.

Complaints were lodged by plethora of parents over the fact that schools have been still charging fees like transportation, development charges, which are completely irrelevant during the ongoing phase. Specific actions to roll back and mandate the private schools to ‘only’ collect Tution Fee have been taken by Delhi government, also they have conveyed to not disallow students from accessing online module if he/she is unable to pay the fee, this order came after hearing that schools have been barring those students from online material access who are unable to pay the fee. Connecting with this issue, Delhi High Court rejected a plea for same, saying that-”Schools have to pay their staff” highlighting the respective orders of state’s education department.

If any problem of fee hike is being faced by you, then you can reach for help to Ministry of Human Resource and Development on Twitter @HRDMinistry or your local or state education authorities, via the mode available.
