The treacherous tide that the Covid-Sars2 virus strand brought with itself seemed to sweep out a majority of people's balanced lives, including yours. The usual cycle of life seemed to halt and we don't know when our lives will get back to normal. We also don't know how badly the virus will affect a person's body, even though we read about so many symptoms. The Prime Minister of India Sri Narendra Modi ji explained in one of his speeches about how it’s important to develop and maintain immunity using home remedies to fight against the pandemic. Here we bring to you the importance of yoga and how it will help you build your immunity against Covid-19.
Yoga and how it increases immunity-
Yoga is a Hindu
spiritual and ascetic discipline, a part of which, including breath control,
simple meditation and the adoption of specific bodily postures, is widely practiced for health and relaxation. Indians have practised and used numerous yoga
positions and methods to keep their body and mind in place. With all gyms,
parks, roads, etc. being closed down to avoid community spread of the pandemic,
practising at home everyday for not more than 45 mins-1 hour will help you
develop your immunity in a humongous amount. Yoga helps lower stress
hormones that compromise the immune system, while also conditioning
the lungs and respiratory tract, stimulating the lymphatic system to oust
toxins from the body, and bringing oxygenated blood to the various organs to
ensure their optimal function. Therefore, it not only helps you physically but
also mentally and we all understand how important mental health is, considering
recent events. People in olden days managed to survive for s longer period
because they followed a strict discipline and practised yoga frequently in
order to keep a balance in their day to day life and to make sure that nothing
was tipped off scale.
5 immunity
boosting yoga poses-
General asanas are important but if you do not have a lot of time to practise, these 5 poses will ensure immunity boosting and decrease in stress levels:
1. Downward facing dog- Increases circulation, which in return can help allow immune cells to flow freely so they can fight off infections effectively.
2. Cobra pose-Cobra pose or Bhujangasana is a chest opening pose which helps release white cells that improve the body's immunity.
3. Seated spinal twist- Spinal twists decompress and nourish the spine, but they can also help a lot with your body’s internal functions, including your immune system.
4. Eagle pose- This balancing pose helps to stimulate fresh blood flow throughout the body by squeezing pressure points—giving the body a jolt of immunity-boosting fluid.
5. Legs up the wall- It allows lymph drainage, blood circulation to even out, releases pressure from your back, and helps you feel grounded, so in turn your nervous system can completely relax and reset.
Remember to practise yoga everyday to keep your immune system happy and healthy and keep a check on your physical and mental health during these difficult times.
